Classic Croissant Recipe

Ingredients:

– 500g strong white bread flour
– 10g salt
– 80g sugar
– 10g instant yeast
– 300ml cold water
– 250g cold unsalted butter, grated
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Steps:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
2. Gradually add the cold water and mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 10 minutes, then shape it into a ball and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, then sprinkle half of the grated butter over two-thirds of the dough.
5. Fold the unbuttered third over the buttered middle third, then fold the remaining third over the top to create three layers.
6. Roll out the dough again, sprinkle the remaining butter over two-thirds of the dough, and repeat the folding process.
7. Cover the dough with cling film and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
8. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
9. Roll out the dough to 1cm thickness and cut into triangles.
10. Roll each triangle into a croissant shape, brush with egg wash, and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Ingredients:

– 6 croissants
– 12 slices of crispy bacon
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1/2 cup chopped chives
– 1/4 cup melted butter

Steps:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2. Slice each croissant in half lengthwise, but do not cut all the way through.
3. Fill each croissant with 2 slices of bacon and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
4. Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Brush the tops of the croissants with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped chives.
