Classic Vanilla Cupcake Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
Spoon batter into cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions:

Follow the same instructions as the classic vanilla cupcake recipe, but fold in the vanilla bean seeds at the end before spooning the batter into cupcake liners.
Bake and frost as directed for a gourmet twist on a classic favorite.
